Finder scripting

I am scripting the construction of a folder in the Finder complete with background image and specific locations for the files and folders in it. The script ultimately turns this folder into a read only dmg file. In order to build a dmg that displays everything correctly on Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard I must do this on Leopard rather than Snow Leopard. Apparently, Snow Leopard changed the way all the data on background image and item position is stored. Is there any way to build such a folder on Snow Leopard, turn it into a dmg and have it display correctly on Tiger and Leopard?
