Odd date string

  • Subject: Odd date string

On my machine running 10.4.6, when AppleScript coerces a date into a string, what comes out is a bit odd:

log EventStart --> date "Friday, July 25, 2008 Fri 7/25 8:00"

I must've done something in my System Preferences -> Language and Text -> Formats tab, but I can't figure out what.

The clock in my menu bar is really nice -- it says "Thu Jul 8 6:31", showing day of week and date and time.  I followed instructions years ago to set that up, then upgraded from Tiger a few months ago.  Maybe that has something to do with it.

Any ideas?
