Hello all,Thank you for all the feedback, about
this, as a script. Wondering if barking up wrong tree, and below
would be better/more efficient.I am trying to see right now, if there
is a dynamic link or simple icon to produce a network home shortcut/link/alias
on the desktop for a user, even if they are logged in with a forced local
home....AD or OD. The OS, with Workgroup Manager creates a folder
link in the dock with the user's name....I just want to create this same
thing on the desktop of the logged in user.I have escalated this with Apple, but
I would like to think it is possible, being "they" do it already...
If anyone has a way of doing this, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!Issue put in with Apple:Issue Description:
-----------------
In this AD/OD integrated MCX environment, a lot of accounts that
login to mac workstations have their home folders set to the local
drive of whatever machine they are on. They do happen to have a home
folder on the server as well but has a quota of 300 MB.
He would like to know if there is a way, without scripting, to
have their network home folder show up on the desktop even for users
who's home folder is set to /local drive. There is an option in WGM
to set it in the dock, but not the desktop. We spoke about symbolic
links, but not sure how that would work. We did talk about scripting
and how we can troubleshoot an already-created script, but not write
one.The client machines range from 10.5.8 to 10.6.4.
