Title: Re: Rep: old script fails AND BUG in Smile 3.5.2 (build 609)
Well, the "amer.weihnachten1.jpg" file would have to exist on the desktop already for adding "as alias" to that precise line to work. For the sake of simple communication, try making an application from the following and drag a file or folder onto its icon (something other than a .webloc file). If you don't see the specified dialog, then there could be a problem with the system.

on open theitems
    repeat with i in theitems
tell application "Finder" to display dialog ((container of i) as text)
    end repeat
end open

Also, you don’t have to do an Archive and Install with Snow Leopard, you can just install 10.6.0 right over it and update again if you’re not able to update now. That might mess with low level system components, such as X11, Developer tools, etc., which will need to be installed again, but if you’re system is messed up enough, it probably won’t actually cost you much.
