Munging text in a message in Apple Mail

  • Subject: Munging text in a message in Apple Mail

I'm perhaps overlooking something very basic, but I can't find a way to insert text into a draft message in Apple Mail, by script. I want to copy a URL from Safari, for instance, and insert it into a message.

I know how to do this in Entourage. But apparently the content of even a draft message isn't writable by script. Am I totally missing something?

I can see how I could copy the content of the message-in-progress, insert the URL there, and create a second new outgoing message, specifying the "content" property of the message. But surely there must be a way to manipulate the text of a draft message??
