If you run the Add Tags to Finder Items script and drop or select Finder items from a mounted remote network volume or server, the script does half the job of tagging the remote Finder items. That is, it adds the tags to the Spotlight kMDItemFinderComment attribute in the Finder item on the remote volume. However, the Finder doesn't (at least not immediately) update the .DS_Store file on the remote volume, so you won't (at least not immediately) see the tags in the Finder's Get Info window for the item. (The same problem exists if you copy or move a tagged item to a remote network volume, but that is the Finder's fault, not mine -- it is true of all Spotlight comments in the Finder.)
TagMinder includes a script to make the Finder comments and included tags visible in the Get Info window on the destination volume in both circumstances. Run the Resurrect Comments of Finder Items script on the remote volume and select the destination folder. (This won't work if you try to run the script from the source volume; you have to run it on the remote volume.)
Another fix is to use Path Finder from Cocoatech instead of the Finder. Path Finder shows Spotlight Comments as they exist in the kMDItemFinderComment attribute, ignoring the .DS_Store file.
