It's scriptability, build-in text cleanup features, and its ability to contain graphics objects during the long period when Apple's Simple Text program could not contain graphics made Tex-Edit Plus an obvious choice for plain text yet formatted documents.

Here it is a few weeks after the introduction of Lion and there is no Lion-compatible version of Tex-Edit Plus.

The conversion from TE+ to TextEdit was so time-consuming and painful that I never again want to experience such a waste of time. What surprises me is that after using Macs for over 20 years and reading hundreds of software reviews, I've rarely read any reviewer mentioning the extremely high risk of single-author programs becoming unsupported and all the associated files suddenly becoming unusable.
Hypercard wasn't a single author program but it's gone.
MacDraw wasn't a single author program but …
MacWrite wasn't a single author program …
Claris Resolve wasn't a single author …
AppleWorks wasn' a single …
How many apps were dropped by Adobe which weren't single author's products ?
How long will inDesign users be forced to wait for a truly Lion compatible version ?
How long will Mer.oSoft Office users be forced to wait for a truly Lion compatible version ?
