Not before OS X, obviously. It's fine on my 10.4.11 machine. I'm afraid
my old PowerBook with 10.2.8 no longer starts up.  :(

To be fair with regard to my earlier comment below, the "new" system
version methods have been around for a while now and any machine which
can't make use of them is likely to be in the same condition as my
PowerBook.  ;)
