Are you using GUI scripting then? I can't reproduce this issue here. Have you logged it with Apple and, if so, what is the status in radar?
Are you saying that you can double click on a divider in the list view in Lion and get the list column to size appropriately.
I use "do shell script "cliclick " & x & space & y" in Applescript. Works in Snow Leopard.
Since I'm not "technically competent" I've never had cause to learn the ins and outs of Radar.
