Any answers (or guesses) would be appreciated.
I ran this script:
(path to preferences folder)
(path to preferences)
tell application "Finder"
(path to preferences folder)
(path to preferences)
end tell
With this result:
tell current application
path to preferences
--> alias "Dora:Users:michelle:Library:Preferences:"
path to preferences
--> alias "Dora:Users:michelle:Library:Preferences:"
end tell
tell application "Finder"
path to preferences
--> alias "Dora:Users:michelle:Library:Preferences:"
path to preferences
--> error number -1700 from preferences to constant
Result:
error "Finder got an error: Can’t make preferences into type constant." number -1700 from preferences to constant
Hope that helps.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
