And I had to scroll through your lengthy top-posted message to see what you were saying the contrary to. Right there, top-posting loses the battle.

And for nearly all people who think it's the right way to reply, top-posting makes it easier for them to be lazy and not trim down the quoted messages. It encourages it. They think they can just start typing in their 1-line reply to the multi-page original message and then they hit send without even attempting to trim.
