I've been searching for info on the .mbox extension and all I've found is:
1. Apple has nothing; and
2. No one else has any info because everyone is confused and thinks .mbox is a FILE format extension and not a FOLDER extension.
I'm at a dead-end with searching.
The new .mbox folder format in Lion is ...
mailboxName.mbox:AE52A580-9741-4F12-A2FF-1E28DE58896E:Data:Messages:
My installation of Mail in Lion is simple as I'm not actively using it to send/receive mail.
If you're installation of Mail in Lion is active and there is more than one account, you may be able to answer a question:
Can a .mbox folder contain more than one sub-folder with a big-long-name?
If the answer is Yes, then I think I can work-around my problems fairly easily.
If anyone notices a .mbox folder with 2 or more big-long-name sub-folders, please let me know!
Also ...
Where does that big-long-name come from?
