It's not 40pt text. Bob did not provide a "font" parameter to measuretext, only the string. I suppose the default size is 12 or close.

I'm trying to measure the length of an item in a finder window.

The text size and font are System defaults and unknown to us mere mortals.

Not sure you're mortal, Bob. That said, I'm sure you can change the font size in your Finder's windows, and where you set it you can read its current value.


As for the font, I think it's Lucida Grande.
