Hi all,
I ran into this error, so thought I'd post an update, in case someone is researching the issue.
Here's a quick way to generate a compile-time error -10827:
1. Install the AppleModsTools.osax scripting addition
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/applemods/files/AppleModsLoader/AppleModsLoader-0.12.0.zip/download)
2. Open a new document in Script Debugger 4.5.4 or later (and perhaps an earlier version)
3. Type the following line into Script Debugger:
property _Loader : AppleMods Loader -- osax command
4. Choose the following Debugger menu item:
Script > Default Target > AppleScript Studio (ASKit)
5. Try to compile
I tried the lsregister command Matt suggested to reset Launch Services, but it had no effect on this error. Perhaps the sub-framework issue that Matt mentioned is occurring between AppleMods and ASKit.
As background, FYI, I use AppleMods for loading custom-written handler libraries (i.e. - Excel, SFTP, logging routines, etc.). I also have an AS Studio app (written long ago) that provides a variety of UI elements for scripts to use for showing their status. Am running Intel Core 2 Duo and OS 10.6.8.
