Are you running as a user with admin privs?

Does it matter, or do std and admin account users both require a password when changing this setting.

This may be one of those things that we, when creating our scripts, set once and forget that it required a password when we did it 6 months ago.

OK.

In 10.6.8, when running under my admin account and setting this option manually by clicking on it, I am not asked for a password.

When using this: tell application "System Events" to set UI elements enabled to false

I am asked for a password.

Hi Luther,

I cannot confirm your statement.
On my Snow Leopard I am asked for an administrator's password if I want to change the "UI elements enabled" setting.

Best
Thomas
