I think that just makes the problem worse. Now the user has to click three useless buttons.

I have discovered a couple of things since posting this.
If the user has checked the "Enable access for assistive devices" box, then the password dialogs do not appear since nothing is being changed.
I have attempted to Google for various keywords and found absolutely no additional information. Searching Apple Developer and Support sites reveal even less. I was hoping to find the justification for password securing this one check-box.
My personal opinion is that:
1) Every application that prints should have a standard 'print-to-pdf' command in its AppleScript dictionary.
and
2) UI scripting is so unreliable that it should be eliminated. (I only touch it with my 11ft pole.)
