I could not reproduce the -67049 error, but I did see how Mt. Lion handles non-App Store downloads.
I can instruct my users so that they can use my application, but I'm not happy with the way Apple does this.
The basic instructions are:
1. In System Preferences/Security & Privacy/ change
"Allow applications downloaded from:" to Anywhere
2. Run my application once.
3. Restore "Allow applications downloaded from:"
If this is not done, Mt. Lion displays the dialog ...
"MailWing" can't be opened because it is
from an unidentified developer.
This dialog has only an "OK" button, not an "Open Anyway" button.
This raises some questions:
1. I don't know what the default is for "Allow applications downloaded from:",
but I suspect it is not "Anywhere". Isn't this too strong, especially
with no "Open Anyway" button ?
2. What about an identified developer (one who has purchased an Apple
certificate) but who does not distribute via mac App Store ?
3. How are self-signed certificates handled ?
