I didn’t have trouble installing the command line tools, but I installed Xcode 3 before I installed Xcode 4 on my Lion system. I build some media tools from source (Mplayer, ffmpeg), and I recently performed a true wipe and install with Lion. It was quite a journey to make that work. So far I haven’t installed Fink or any package manager yet.
I’m curious about whether I’ll be able to create AppleScript applications with AppleScript editor in the future. But the main question I have right now is whether I’m going to have to fork over the $99 if I want the ID even though I can still log into the developer site with my free membership. I’m not ready to make any absolute decisions about it right now, but I know how I feel about the practice of providing a free app then eventually using the popularity of the app to add a price tag without still providing a free version.
