Thanks Mark! I knew there was probably a different way.

Another advantage I find of changing the "on open" to "on run" is that the
values of the variables persist in the right hand side after the script
completes running which is also handy for debugging (as long as the local
handler variables are assigned different names from the main script
variables).

The best way, though, is probably to declare the local variables you are
interested in for debugging.
