I don't have an AppleScript solution but I can offer you this: The Finder mounts all FTP volumes as read only. iDisk is a WebDAV server, that's why that works. The reason this works with Transmit is that Transmit includes MacFUSE in its installation. It uses the driver in MacFuse to do the mounting in the Finder. You could probably script Transmit to mount the disk if it's installed where you run the script.
