I had problems with this last year and Christopher Stone said that the archives search had been completely broken for months. He confirmed that the best way, suggested by Axel Luttgens, was to use site:lists.apple.com/archives/applescript-users followed by your search terms so
site:lists.apple.com/archives/applescript-users Export file to mp4
will produce some results for you.
