I simply hate that Apple is trying to bubble wrap the OS and hiding stuff like that from us.
What's next? Sandbox applications so that they can't talk to each other, or force user interaction to save files to a various spots on the HD?
I was banned from Apple Discussions forums when I tried to explain to some users why Apple introduced AutoSave and Versions. Both features are always here. I guess that your feeling will change nothing. From Apple's point of view the "annoying" features were introduced with good reasons and will remain here.
From my point of view, if your interaction is required to save a file in a given location, it's time to ask your brain if using this location is really a good idea. I guess that most of the time the answer will be : it's not a good idea.
The unique case I feel that the new scheme is really annoying is iWork whose custom templates wich are owned by the user are stored in a subfolder of the user's library. I just hope that in the next release of iWork these templates will be stored in a permanently visible location.
