If you want to send me a compiled version off-list, I'll happily test whether it still *runs* with 10.8.
I'll add that I'm seeing some intermittent odd behavior with open panels since Apple introduced their sandboxed version, so the problem may not be entirely with your code.

As it stands, you want something AS doesn't offer, so I can't think of any alternative unless there's a scripting addition that does it for you. But ASObjC is probably a pretty heavy-weight solution at this point -- no chance you can just compromise on your requirements?
