The {-v option escapes me. This is one of many options I have tried.

Earlier today, I was searching my Mac for files about "afplay". Found some messages dated June 2011 in this forum about that very problem. Yes, there is a -v option, but …… it does not work.
Seems that this option still does not work. @#$%!
