Hi all,
Running Photoshop CS5 on Lion 10.7.4 on 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB memory. I'm making some changes to a script written by someone else that generates a set of 20 files from two master files. All the 'save' commands were enclosed inside a 'timeout' block of 300 seconds and those blocks were preceded with a 'delay' of 1 second.
When run, the save commands would sometimes fail with a "general Photoshop error," number 8800, indicating the image had an unexpected end-of-file. By increasing the delays to 2 seconds, the errors seemed to stop for a while, but then started recurring.
I did NOT want to increase the delay times further, thus slowing down the script. So, on a lark, I removed the delays and the timeout blocks. And, surprise, the script is not only MUCH faster, but has had no errors since. I think I'm safe, because none of the files come close to needing the 60 second default timeout to complete a save.
Because a longer delay seemed to reduce the number of errors, I'd have to guess that the timeout command is the culprit. Though the problem seems solved, I'm curious. Does anyone have any insight into this issue or the "unexpected end-of-file" Photoshop error?
Thanks,
Stan C.
