In praise of Satimage

Folks, I haven't posted for a while – pressure of work and all that – but I'd just like to thank Satimage for their (self-named) OSAX.

I had a relatively trivial problem to solve – that of slurping in some semi-structured data from a bunch of emails (139 IIRC) into a database. Just the sort of task that regular expressions excel at. A bit of futzing with Python would have worked (despite years of vague attempts, I can't do Perl) but keeping everything in AppleScript would be simpler – and simple / down and dirty scripting was called for here. After downloading the Satimage OSAX, 30 minutes or so of testing the OSAX followed by a bit of cutting and pasting from older scripts and done. Data in database.

So thanks Satimage. An excellent OSAX which just works. Hopefully I'll get to use it again!

Simon
