This will probably be a whisker quicker:

tell fileManager to createDirectoryAtPath_withIntermediateDirectories_attributes_error_(posixPath, true, missing value, missing value)

Overall, the SSD mounts apps fast, but I think ApplescriptObjC apps might run a bit slow, or no faster.

It might be interesting to see what happens if you move them to /Applications and they moved to the SSD.
