Now the term deprecated has several shades of meaning, but that sure looks
> like someone doesn't like HFS paths.

For sure. It will likely be several years before it doesn't work at all (not
understanding HFS paths or 'alias "HFS Path:"' constructs) but no doubt
serious inconveniences will emerge soon enough. I wonder if the 'alias'
construct will simply disappear to be replaced POSIX files completely.
