It wouldn't appear that way, no. 10.9 "Mavericks" due out in the next month or two will see the 20th Anniversary of AppleScript. According to what was said at WWDC in June this year, we'll see some developments of this venerable language, though I couldn't say whether a fix for this particular bug will be one of them.
