I recently surmised that spaces in a record item's name might be the cause
of 'get volume settings' and 'system info' not writing to a plist file.

I was able to create a record with a space in a record item name and
I was able to write that record to a plist file.

I inspected plist files in my Preferences folder and found that,
while the use of spaces is rare, there are plist files that
have spaces in the record item names.

Therefore, spaces don't seem to be the cause of the problem.

'get volume settings' and 'system info' are StandardAdditions commands,
so perhaps there is a problem with StandardAdditions.
I haven't a clue what the problem may be.
