System Events is not involved in system info; it's part of Standard Additions.
sorry, yes, of course you're right, I was confused and didn't look into the script I use.
In any case there is considerable difference in the time required to retrieve system info, I saw a factor of 100 (6 to 600 ms). The second call is essentially immediate (in the order of 5 ms), so what is going on here? I couldn't find a significant difference between being online or offline.
