That's probably so. The role of the addition is to add extra coercions between certain Quark classes and AppleScript classes, and without it you get the sort of problems you describe. Lodged somewhere in the recesses of my memory is the idea that there's a Quark command that performs the coercion, that you can use instead. It's a bit tedious -- you have to use the command every time you want to convert from the Quark class to integers or reals -- but it probably still works. I remember using it the first time the coercions were broken.
