Apple's Script Editor works just as you say, and even thought a normal 'command-Run' doesn't do anything, it doesn't crash it either.

From the docs:

The methods of your delegate object are called from the thread in which you started the corresponding location services. That thread must itself have an active run loop, like the one found in your application’s main thread.

So there's no reason it should crash. 

For anyone following along, ASObjC Explorer has a "Run in foreground" checkbox, so you don't have to keep remembering to hold the control key. It's harmless if you forget here, but in cases where you're talking to the interface it can cause crashes.
