Hey Folks,

Is there a simple way to coerce data or script to text without resorting to the shell?

There used to be an osax that made this chore very straightforward, but I think it's not available for OSX - and for that matter I'd prefer a native solution.

I can use the shell, but I'm wanting to optimize for speed.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

I built a FileMaker Pro DB to do just that some years ago. I used osadecompile and thought it was pretty fast when archiving many scripts at once. What was slow was the "where is application x" dialog that would come up when an app wasn't available.
