I'm thus a bit reassured. As I wrote, I couldn't test with Mavericks; but this would mean that "they" didn't completely made a mess of Mail's ability to invoke Applescript scripts from rules. ;-)
I tried to devise that short script so as to avoid any pitfalls that a sandboxed application could be facing.
So, it could be interesting to investigate those scripts that have been said to fail in Mavericks while they worked on 10.6.8.
