Ah, yes, but as S.I. Hiyakawa said, "Cow one is not cow two." That is, I meant only that AppleScript in its generic versus a well-maintained, commercial industrial application wrapper around AppleScript, and a superbly engineered timing environment, is a special thing for mission-critical tasks.
I simply don't think there is any other AS tool that is so well established and field-tested, at least in my decidedly non-industrial desktop user understanding. But that's just me supposing out loud.
Anyway, yeah, Smile's a venerable beast that can shoot lasers out of its eyes, talk to aliens, wash dishes, walk dogs and chat with mothers-in-law while you nap. (That's not in the release notes, though.)
Which is not to say that...
