Has anyone seen it documented? And, if so, then where?

It's outdated and not specific to AS, but there's relevant information at http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22935

From that, it's clear that any portion of a file name that can be interpreted as a number, for purposes of sorting, will be. And, of course, leading zeros have no significance in a numeric sort.

Outdated or not, this seems to be the explanation for this behavior.

Consequently, the Finder is seeing files which are not there while the '... as alias' conversion does not see them.
Using aliases or System Events seems to be the proper work-around for this "problem".

This answer to a message which I never received give me the opportunity to ask about technotes.

Since quite two weeks, when I try to download recently modified notes from :
http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=articles

I get a blank page.

If I try to download notes by their proper link,
the late TS one available seems to be :
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5426
and the late HT one seems to be :
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6221

The more recently modified ones are dated 2014/05/09.

I'm really puzzled to see nothing new just after the delivery of several application/system updates.

If I look at downloads available at :
http://support.apple.com/downloads/

I may learn that :
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222 was edited on 2014/05/21
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5955 was edited on 2014/05/15
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6228 is dated 2014/05/21 (yes, there are no note from TS6222 thru TS6227)

Is there something wrong with this service ?
When Apple change a link, most of the time they are fair enough to post a redirection.
This time no error 404, no redirection.
