I have a FileMaker Pro database that is full of images. The should all
be JPEG but some have been stored in the database by drag-n-drop from
the finder. Rather than store the file or a reference to the file, it
appears as though FileMaker took the PICT data from the clipboard and
stored that. As a result, those images are stored as untitled.pct in the
container field.
We want to convert these images to JPEG.
So far I've tried to these things:
1. open in Preview. The export function isn't available.
Option-Command-S provides save as PDF and save as Quicktime PICT. Save
as PDF places the image into a page sized white border. It's not a good
start.
2. Open in Photoshop CS6. It complains that it can't handle PICT format
anymore.
3. AppleScript. I've got an image conversion script from the
MacScripter.net website which looks OK but the crucial step fails.
save image "121_04.pict" as JPEG in "The
Laptop:Users:malcolm:Desktop:121_04.pict.JPEG"
--> missing value
Can anyone tell me what to try next?
Malcolm
