Interesting -- I just tried one in the latest version, and you are correct. OTOH, this whole thread began with:
2. Open in Photoshop CS6. It complains that it can't handle PICT format anymore.
And I just tried with CS6 and my sample opens fine there, too. Could be a different flavor of .pict, I guess.
The exact message I get from Photoshop when I try to open one of the
images is "Could not complete your request because the PICT contains
data that is no longer supported in this version of Photoshop."
