To my mind, there are two approaches. One is just copying-and-pasting code that looks interesting, trying it, and asking questions. I think that's how a lot of us started in AppleScript -- I know I did.

I've been trying that… 

This line doesn't compile:

--use script "BridgePlus" -- used here to convert between Cocoa dates and AS dates pre-10.11


And this line errors:


error "*** -[BAGenericObjectNoDeleteOSAID ASify]: unrecognized selector sent to object <BAGenericObjectNoDeleteOSAID @0x600000e223c0: OSAID(1) ComponentInstance(0x81000a)>" number –10000
