I sometimes have an error stating that the data is being accessed by another instance, and unselecting (or committing) might be a good workaround.

I don’t use FileMaker but it may be fine to try what works is Numbers: key code 53 # press Escape key. Issue it once if a cell, a block of cells, a table is selected Issue it twice if the contents of a cell is selected.
