The laments about bug reports are a common refrain among all developers. The latest release closed two or three of your reports, and several of mine, so the idea that it's a black hole is nonsense. Sure, they don't send thank-you notes and a bunch of flowers, and I've filed plenty that got nowhere, you can bet that someone somewhere is keeping tallies. I post bug reports hoping they catch the attention of the AS engineers, but I also figure extra entries in the AppleScript column might just come to the notice of some engineering manager who otherwise couldn't care less. Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But not half as wishful as thinking that carping about things on this mailing list will make a difference. IMO *that* is throwing away unpaid time.

I'd be willing to bet that any such decision would be totally out of the AS team's hands. Sure, Apple bundles Perl, Python and Ruby -- but that's because senior people at Apple are interested in them and use them. I suspect AppleScript is on the tolerated list, barely. Apple's interest is more in stuff that's new and shiny.
