Unlike Shane, my laziness has thus far got the better of me in terms of trying to improve the formatting of the shell script option.
Incidentally, if you run this in a script editor (returns in about 45 secs on my machine):
#by default this will target the home folder set s to "ls -R | sed -e 's/://' -e 's/[^-][^\\/]*\\//--/g' -e 's/^/ /' -e 's/-/|/'" do shell script s
the formatting in the results panel makes it fairly obvious (or so it seems to me) what is and what isn't a package. However, in this 40-message thread, I may have missed some other complaint that the shell script fails to address.
