Hi Shane,

I thought that the whole point about automator actions is that they are not sandboxed, but run under user inspection and control - for instance Finder automation can move and delete files. So I don't really see anything in the rules that would forbid scripting Terminal via Automator actions to control a third party app (Vagrant) that the user has installed.

I would like to distribute through the appstore because it is an accepted monetization mechanism for Mac software.

Could someone here kindly forward my query to Sal Soghoian or someone on the Automator team ? I think this question is meant for them , as it involves Apple rules about Automator.

I believe you have to build a standard app, with the actions in its /Contents/Library/Automator/ directory; there's no need for an installer. For other files, you need to have the user choose any destinations outside the app's sandbox via a save or open panel.

However, I'm not optimistic about your chances of getting something that scripts Terminal into the App Store. I might be wrong, but you're likely to be at the whim of the reviewers -- what you're proposing sounds like something not ordinarily allowed.

Is there some reason you can't distribute outside the App Store?
