Note it has nothing to do with the specific site. This hangs as well:
with timeout of 5 seconds
do shell script "/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin www.yahoo.com"
end timeout
Basically, control doesn't return to the script until Firefox quits.
