Hey Shane,

That is not the point though – as Michael said – he would have to be especially careful not to make a mistake when tagging files.

And this is why I suggested scripting the tagging, so it could remove the unwanted tag if it exists and be prevented from adding the wrong tag by mistake.  He would have to make a special effort to use the Tags-UI to err, and that would afford reasonable safety.

I absolutely agree.

I just have a sense of where Michael is coming from (or so I think).

With some thought and some trial & error I believe he can come up with a system that will work for him.

I don't think Apple will remove the label metadata any time soon - they haven't with other AppleScript related APIs – but you never know.

It would probably be safer to rely on tags and not labels.
