You got that because you tried to create the folder in Application Support folder from the local domain (/Library/Application Support/).
Interesting. It must default to the local domain, because I didn't specify a domain.
Is there a reason for not creating the folder in the Application Support folder from the user domain (/Users/userName/Library/Application Support/)?
No, just didn't specify.
I have since discovered I could read and write to the workflows folder without authentication.
Since this application is more of an application support than an actual workflow, I may switch to application support folder from the user domain.
