Thank you for your suggestions.

I copy pasted each script suggestion into an Automator > new application >
Run AppleScript and then saved each as an application. I enabled the
System Preference > Security & Privacy > Accessibility > Allow "Clear
Safari.app" app to control computer.
Unfortunately none of the scripts cleared the history on os 10.11.3 with
Safari 9.0.3.

Stockly script
(http://lists.apple.com/archives/applescript-users/2016/Feb/msg00158.html)
does nothing and shows error window "The action “Run AppleScript”
encountered an error."

Koenig script
(http://lists.apple.com/archives/applescript-users/2016/Feb/msg00159.html)
closes all tabs and widows, but does not clear history and shows error
window "The action “Run AppleScript” encountered an error."

Mills script
(http://lists.apple.com/archives/applescript-users/2016/Feb/msg00160.html)
does nothing and shows error window "The action “Run AppleScript”
encountered an error."

I will try plugging and playing parts of the three suggestions to see if I
can't make a functioning script.

To answer 2551phil's question "for what purpose?", I would like to reduce
website tracking. I don't mind if human beings, fellow co-workers,
friends, family, etc. see my browsing history. I am simply trying to
reduce the tracking by advertisers and robots. Maybe I need to find a
script that clears history and LastSession.plist and History.db, too!

Thanks again,
DB
