Console.app in Sierra

  • Subject: Console.app in Sierra

Well, I'm stumped. I'm having a difficult time understanding how to use the new Console.app in Sierra. I'm getting anxious because I frequently have to instruct very non-geeky users how to use the (relatively simpler) current version of Console to send me debugging messages and such from my distributed scripts and applets. But I haven't a clue how to instruct users on the new Console when I can't figure it out myself.

When I am able to get what I want from it, I can't figure out how I managed it. Thanks to an earlier post, http://lists.apple.com/archives/applescriptobjc-dev/2016/Jun/msg00021.html, I've watched the WWDC video

https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2016/721/

...and looked at the developer KB article

https://developer.apple.com/reference/os/1891852-logging

...and read the log man pages, but I'm not grokking.

I was kind of hoping that there might be a "Quick Start" tutorial somewhere. Eg: "Here's how to use the New Console to view log data the way you got it from the Old Console." Or something like that.

Much olbiged as always,
Doug
