Apple script and hypercard

The discusssion about the future of apple script reminds me of the fate of hypercard which came free with macs.

I loved this product. It allowed one without coding experience to construct very complicated programs. An underlying script allowed it to perform very powerful functions and processes.

The video above describes it as an program "erector set" which puts it perfectly.

There were windows and even a dos "work alike" versions, I used the latter for many projects.

One connection with apple script is I read long ago that the hypertext scripting that was available was the parent of apple script.

I will never understand why apple killed it because it allowed someone new to the mact to easily do individual automation projects of a kkind not available these days..

When asked at a national if it would be around Jobs assured it would, it was gone 2 years later.
